    Losing weight......

Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 01:08 PM CST [General]

Well, I've started some "lifestyle changes" in the past few weeks and have lost 17 pounds thus far. I started out 3 weeks ago at 250 and weighed in yesterday morning at 233.

So far, all, I've done is cut out cokes....syrup bad! You have have to look out, howver, because corn syrup is in EVERYTHING! Ketchup has it as does almost every salad dressing on the market EVEN the "Lite" ones (Kraft House Italian being an exception)!!! A researcher tracked the effects of high fructrose corn syrup on the human body and it effects the body just like alcohol...minus the annoying buzzing feature. :D

I'm eating 3 meals a day, no seconds and watching portion size. I eat my final meal of the day before 7 PM and have cut out most snacks. Pickles have very few calories and kraut (being German I love the stuff!) only has 30 calories in a 1 C. serving!

Haven't really start any real workout unless you count walking downtown and back (~1.5 mile).

Drinking water mostly, sweet tea (32 calories/ 8 oz serving....better than 150/125/ 8 0z of coke) or unsweetened with Spelnda, orange juice, diet IBC, and 2% milk.

Snackwise, occasionally a handful of unsalted peanuts, a pickle, or a serving of kraut (30 calories for a cup!).

For breakfast, I've actually been measuring out my granola or special K...1/2 or 3/4 cup of cereal (depending on brand the serving size varies) with 1/2 c. of milk doesn't look like a lot...lol. But it is working.

For some perspective, I am 5' 8.5" and when I was in the Army (88-90), I weighed 140. Measurements were size 34 waist and 44R jacket. currently they are 42 waist and 48R jacket.

I think I'd be happy getting down to 180-190 and firming up teh chest and getting the waist to 38. Not too unrealsitic, I hope! I know I'll never be that young, sexy Army medic of days gone by!!!!

Let's just see if I can keep this up! :D
